Called my order in so I could ask questions. What a waste of time. First they have the worst phone system ever. I spoke to 4 representatives and it was the same on all of them (I spoke to many other catalogs the same day with no problem, there is no issue with my phone). It sounded like the reps were at home with kids running around in the background so their focus was not on my call. I had to repeat myself over and over. There was also a language barrier. Their English was minimal so that also made it difficult. Signals doesn't care about their customers, they just want you to sign up to be on some special level so you can get discounts but those discounts will cost you $14.95 a month! They overcharge you to begin with, many of the items I was ordering I found on Amazon for much cheaper without those astronomical shipping charges. If you're looking for stress then this is the company for you. But if you get your fill of stress from work and home then stay away!

I had a question about a product purchased through Signals. I called their customer service phone number and was on hold, "for the next available operator who will take [my] call shortly." While on hold I: did two loads of laundry, washed/dried the dishes, made dinner, swept the kitchen floor, took out the trash, made dessert, and answered 7 emails. Then I was disconnected.
Question: Is it bad customer service when there's no customer service?

Sizing is off, quality is poor and shipping costs are excessive.

I ordered a printed tee shirt that said "Underestimate me. That'll be fun". When I received the shirt, the lettering was gray and faded looking, not white. I was assured that the unisex size small would fit, as I am a size 4 or small in a women's top. I couldn't get the shirt over my shoulders. The material tag says "Gildan heavy cotton". This is a cheap, lightweight material. Lastly, the shipping cost was $8.99, which was excessive but I wanted this shirt. There is no reimbursement for the shipping cost. If shipping was $5.00 or $6.00 I wouldn't mind having to eat that amount but $8.99 is excessive. Needles to say, the shirt is being returned and I will never order another item from this company.

Not a good site to order from

Ordered a birthday gift... got order confirmation. And plenty of emails to intice another order but nothing about my order. Got on chat line and they cancelled my order. Said it was because my card was declined... which happens no where else... I asked why I never notified of my cancellation... of course the answer was... don't know... so now I was left high and dry for a birthday gift! I will never use this company and I pass along my story!

Terrible Company

In early April I mailed in an order for a book, and enclosed a check. Four days later the check was cashed by Signals at Huntington Bank. A month later and still no book I began calling. Said they never received my order. They had to get it if they got and cashed check. Customer Service was horrible, horrible. Always a different person who didn't know about the issue. All said they can't send the book until they find the order, can't refund my money until they found order. My bank contacted their bank, which was no help. This is insanity. They keep my money and I don't get the book until they find the order which is obviously lost or destroyed. Ludicrous!

Gift-only give with proof of purchase

Upon leaving a job I received a joint gift, a lovely candle lantern from my department.
I followed the instructions and used a tea candle. The lantern melted and a small fire started. No other damage was done to our mantle. I contacted customer service and after much resistance they agreed to provide a return label for a credit. Two months later I received a phone call advising that they could nothing without a the name, email or credit card of the person that purchased it. Again I explained it was a gift and I was unable to provide the information. I was than told that they could return the damaged merchandise to me as they could nothing.
Very dissatisfied with customer service manger and store policy.

Items received badly damaged - no refund in sight

We ordered three painted tables from Signals and all three (as well as the three replacements) arrived in individual boxes with no padding or wrapping at all. The boxes had holes in them and were crushed. The tables inside had crushed corners, chipped and flaking paint and legs broken off. Return shipping cost $40 for the first three tables. Have not returned the second set of three yet until I am guaranteed reimbursement of shipping costs (I doubt we will ever see that). Customer service keeps telling us a refund will be sent in "3-5 days". It's been weeks and no refund. In addition, I have tried to post a review for the tables on the Signals website, but I get a message saying it will be posted after it has been "reviewed". Surprise, surprise, the negative review has not been posted, so more unsuspecting customers will order these tables only to encounter the same issues we have.

Poor Customer Service

Early December I ordered 3 lanterns for Christmas presents. When purchasing 3 you get a reduced price. A few weeks later I was notified one was back ordered. It would not be in before Christmas. I was charged for 2 at the reduced price. After Christmas the third one I wanted came in. I called to order it asking for the reduced price, and the woman for Signals said no and got very snotty with me. I felt for all the inconvenienced caused me for not a having that item before Christmas, they would honor the original reduced price. I told her forget it. No longer wanted to give them my service. And on top of that, noticed on my credit card statement I was enrolled in some Signals membership at $15.77 a month that I did not authorize. Very sad to me because I love the products in the Catalogue. With Amazon being their biggest competition, I would think they would try harder to compete.

2 months, still no refund!

Over the past 2 months, I have emailed twice and called customer service 3 times about a refund. First off, the nightmare about calling customer service is true; expect to be on hold for at least 30 to 45 minutes. Second, customer service is just going to tell you whatever to get you off the phone. Their stories change just to get you off the phone.
It's not worth it. It doesn't matter how cute the item is, you will regret buying from them!

Signals took over a MONTH to even ship a christmas gift out for delivery.

I ordered several items online on Dec 11, and by Dec15th, still no notice it shipped from Signals. I was on hold 35 minutes, and finally called back again. Customer service, "Was sorry it hadn't been shipped out YET, and "they would ship it overnight". On January 3rd I got a FedEx email to let me know, "They had just received the items January 2nd, and it would arrive Jan 3," Not once did Signals respond about anything shipping out, and they charged an outrageous cost for shipping 2 small items. I will never use them again. Another item to another person didn't get there until January 7th, ordered Dec 9.and on that order, I paid for "Overnight shipping" on the 2nd friends gift. It still took over a month to be shipped at all from Signals. Repeated emails were ignored.

Finally Got part of order

I finally got part of my 12/12/20 order on 1/2 after many calls and cumulative hours on hold. Three items are yet to arrive and some have one has gone out of stock. I still would not order from them again. I regret that I also lost my temper and said mean things to the clerks on the phone. Bad experience all around - but what I ordered was as described when it did come.

Outrageous shipping costs.

I ordered three items over a month ago. I received on of them promptly, three masks for $22.45. The other two items were continually on backorder and were meant as Christmas presents so I canceled those and bought them on Amazon. I was charged $16.99 for shipping for three masks that I could have shipped for about 5 bucks. I went back and forth with customer service and the agreed to refund me $5.00 which was never credited back to my account. So with tax, I paid $42.60 for three masks. There also doesn't appear to be a way to go over customer services head. If you ever receive a Signals catalogue and see something you like, go to Amazon. They likely have it and their CS is much better.

Bad Customer Service

I purchased a pricey book set, the corner of the case around the books was slightly damaged. I emailed twice asking for my shipping charge to be refunded and... nothing.
There are so many, many, many other places to spend money!

Nearly impossible. And when you do get one on the line they say they'll get back to you, then don't. I phoned them a number of times, and my bank called them once, and only one time they called back saying the stupid business about not sending my book until they found the order... after cashing my check.

There are many nicer companies out there. Signals and Acorn are the same company with the same people behind the scenes. They do have some interesting products, but customer service is absolutely horrible.

The words Public Television on the cover. I trust Public Television and Public Radio and thought they must be affiliated.
